• Die Protagonisten des Films sind vier junge Männer: Mohammad, Moshe, Liron und Nethanel.

  Sie leben in Lod, einer dreißig Kilometer von Tel Aviv entfernten Kleinstadt. In Israel ist Lod als die Stadt mit der höchsten Arbeitslosigkeit und Kriminalität bekannt.

  Alle vier Protagonisten sind Musiker, die von einer erfolgreichen Karriere träumen. Sie möchten der Armut und dem monoton-provinziellen Leben entkommen. Mohammad und Moshe sind Rapper und Liron und Nethanel träumen von einer glorreichen Karriere als „Mizrahit singer“ – Schlagersänger.

  „Lod on the Map“ ist ein ungewöhnlicher Film über Israel, denn er erzählt weder vom israelisch-pälestinensischen Konflikt noch von religiösen Fanatikern. Stattdessen gibt uns der Film Gelegenheit, am Alltag junger Menschen in der israelischen Provinz teilzuhaben, ihre Hoffnungen und Träume, ihre Musik und ihren dramatischen Kampf um Aufmerksamkeit und Anerkennung zu verstehen.

• A portrait of four young musicians, coming from Lod, a small city right in the heart of Israel. In the center of the movie are the attempts of each protagonist to accomplish a successful music career. It’s a daily fight against poverty and miserable reality. Four young musicians on their quest for happiness, fame and acknowledgment in an unstable neighborhood full of conflicts.
